Elizabeth Kurian ‘Mona’

Ghazal

Bound to the earth am I, but my mind is on a crazy flight

This is a journey sans ticket, I can take a happy flight

Springtime has arrived in all splendor and pleasant the weather,

Butterflies and bees leap from flower to flower in pretty flight

When health and wealth deteriorate, tribulation looms large,

Trying to forget suffering and pain is a dreary flight

Looking out of the window of an aeroplane leisurely

Soaring so high above the fluffy clouds is a dreamy flight

Far from his native country, away from his near and dear ones,

To those he left behind, the migrant’s mind takes a daily flight

Doomed by depression, day in and day out , with no one to help

Fed up with his own life, the victim goes on a deadly flight

Like a kite flying in the blue skies, watching the world below

‘Mona’ does your heart also wish to go on a fancy flight?
